Digital Library

Within your Sprotbrough library membership we now provide e-book services which include Borrowbox and the new cloud library.

Each service allows you to download different titles using your membership number and pin (speak to a member of staff if unsure of your numbers).  You will need to download the individual application, then once activated you can borrow up to 10 titles of e-books and eAudio books.

You can reserve titles, track your progress on current loans, read or listen to extracts, anytime, anywhere.  You are informed by e-mail when your choice is available, start reading, you have 21 days before the titles expire.

If you wish to use our online services e.g. e-books/music downloads/audio files, please follow the instructions below:
1. Go to library.doncaster.gov.uk
2. Select ‘Welcome’ (orange menu bar)
3. Select ‘Apps’ icon in the centre area of the web page
4. Depending on which type of device the customer is downloading onto, you will need
to download the relevant apps for the service they want to use BorrowBox, Cloud
Library or Freegal services.
5. Go to the relevant section for the service then:
i) for Apple device – use iTunes link for Borrowbox app for audio and e-books.
ii) for Android device (any other device except Apple or Windows phone/tablet) – go to the
Google Play store link and download the app.
iii) for Cloud library use the download the app link as they have access to more stores.
What’s Available…..
  • BorrowBox has both eAudio and eBooks
  • Comics Plus has comics
  • Freegal is music
There is a library app too, to access the library from anywhere.

Note: If you own a Kindle Fire you will need to follow some special instructions to install the apps.  See links below:

Doncaster & District Talking Newspapers for the Blind

We are based at Sprotbrough Community Library.

If you are registered as blind or partially sighted, you are entitled to receive, once a fortnight completely free of charge  a 90 plus minute memory stick audio recording of local news and human interest stories selected by kind permission of the editors of Doncaster’s daily and weekly newspapers. Recordings are sent, and returned to us, by FREEPOST.

We also supply a player – also completely free of charge – to any registered blind/partially sighted person who does not already have the means to play memory sticks, for example on a PC or laptop).

If you are registered as a blind/partially sighted person you can ask to be referred to us by theDMBC Social Services Sensory Team at Barclay Court, call 01302 737701, or you can contact us directly – call John on 0753052 6654 ore-mail us at dontnb@hotmail.co.uk

If you aren’t registered you can also listen to our broadcasts via our Facebook page links, search for – Doncaster Talking Newspapers, or via The British Wireless for the Blind Sonata service.

Please note that the library does not manage the Talking Newspapers service and you should contact them direct, on their contact details supplied above, for anything to do with their service. The library provides room hire to Doncaster Talking Newspapers to enable them to do their recordings.
